Key benchmark indices logged modest gains on sustained buying demand in index pivotals. Trading for the week began on a positive note as the key benchmark indices drifted higher in early trade.Key indices hovered in a small range in afternoon trade. Firmness prevailed on the bourses in mid-afternoon trade. Stocks extended gains and hit intraday high in late trade. The Nifty 50 gained 82.90 points and settled the day at 10888.35.Metal sector weere the major gainer and realty sector were the major losers of the day.Global Markets
European shares plunged again as a profit warning from online fashion retailer ASOS sent retail stocks spiraling down as investors fretted that consumers are failing to deliver the traditional pre-Christmas spending boost to markets.ASOS peer Boohoo (L:BOOH) fell 18 percent at the open, before recouping some losses after it reported record Black Friday sales. It was last down 9.8 percent.

China stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mobile and Banking sectors led shares higher while losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Life Insurance and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares lower. At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.16%.
Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Transport, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Cement sectors led shares higher. At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.14%.
Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals & Mining, Materials and Resources sectors led shares higher. At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 1.00%.
