Benchmark indices traded volatile witnessing both buying and selling momentum on the last trading session of the OCT F&O series. Domestic sentiment was hurt by another weak session for Tata Group stocks, after its ousted chairman warned of potential write downs of nearly $18 billion. The Nifty ended the session to close at 8615.25.
HDFC, Dr Reddy, ICICI Bank and ITC were the top gainers of the day while Infratel, Asian Paints, Hero Moto corp were the top losers of the day.
Global Markets Update:
- Deutsche Bank posted an unexpected net profit of 278 million euros in the third quarter as it benefited from a surge in bond trading that boosted all Wall Street banks’ earnings.
- Japan’s Nikkei share average dropped in choppy trade on Thursday as anxious investors waited on earnings results from major companies after Canon Inc , a key exporter, issued a profit warning due to the yen’s recent strength.
